Health care services have been overwhelmed with additional patients.

USAID has expanded access to care at more than 30 facilities across Jordan, including renovating maternal and neonatal care at the Women and Children’s Hospital in Mafraq.

The hospital serves Jordanians and Syrian refugees in Mafraq as well as mothers and children from the nearby Zaatari refugee camp.

Stress in the camps, and the often harrowing journey from Syria, manifests itself in early deliveries of premature babies. USAID is providing new incubators and respiratory equipment to save the lives of premature babies.

Our work with refugees and host communities helps ensure there is no lost generation from the crisis. Instead we are helping to create a sense of normalcy, a moment of joy and the possibility of hope for a better tomorrow.
